They have tracks that travel in a straight line and they are not able to manoeuvre any corners or make additional stops to tackle staircase landings or platforms. Stairlifts are typically installed directly onto the treads of stairs instead of the wall next to them which makes stairlifts suitable for any type of stairs which may have railings or stairs of an open concept.
